Registration & Renewals

 You Can Renew Online if:

• You have an eligible plate
• Your vehicle is not leased
• Your registration is not currently expired
• You do not owe delinquent property taxes on any vehicle you own
• You have had insurance for 45 days with the same insurance company (for database verification)

Documents Required:

1. Title Number
2. Plate Number
3. Debit/Credit Card

Important Notes:

• Your new registration will be mailed to the address on file with the Scott County Clerks Office. Contact us to update your address before renewal.
• Please allow 3 – 5 business days for online renewals to be processed.

Fees:

• Property taxes as listed on registration renewal notification
• $2.00 mailing fee
• A 2.75% service fee applies to all credit or debit card payments

Documents Required:

1. Photo ID
2. Kentucky certificate of registration
3. Commonwealth of Kentucky insurance policy including the following:
   • • Name of the insured
     • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
     • Effective date within 45 days of the day it is presented to the clerk
     • NAIC code
       • The insurer’s NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) company code — a 5-digit number identifying the insurance company.

Fees:

1. Property taxes (as listed on registration renewal notification)
2. $21 renewal fee (base amount; fees may vary for specialized plates and vehicles over 10,000 lbs)
3. A 2.75% service fee applies to all credit or debit card payments

Important Information:

• You may choose to have the registration mailed to you or pick up your new registration at either location
• If insurance it required to renew you may be asked to email your proof to the clerk

• A 2.75% service fee applies to all credit or debit card payments
• $2.00 postage (if you choose to have your registration mailed)
