Titling and registering a brand new vehicle that has a Certificate of Origin.

Location:

  • Visit us at our Main Office or Branch Office

Documents Required:

  • Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin or Certificate of Origin, assigned to buyer
  • Kentucky Application for Certificate of Title/VTR (TC96-182)
  • Commonwealth of Kentucky insurance policy including the following:
      • Name of the insured
      • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
      • Effective Date (current)
        • a current effective date if coverage already exists, or
        • a policy period that includes today’s date
      • NAIC code
        • The insurer’s NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) company code — a 5-digit number identifying the insurance company.
  • Kentucky ID & Social Security number
  • Dealer invoice (for road usage tax valuation)
  • Sheriff inspection for vehicles purchased out of state

Important Notes:

  • All new vehicles must be titled and registered before operation.
  • Any liens must be noted and documented.
  • Valuation for tax may be based on dealer invoice/MSRP.
  • Vehicles purchased from out of state will need a Sheriff inspection

Fees:

  • $9 title fee
  • 6% road usage tax based on sale price/invoice
  • $21 registration/plate fee (base amount; fees may vary for specialized plates and vehicles over 10,000 lbs)
  • $22 lien filing fee, if applicable
