Delinquent Tax Information

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for collecting property taxes for the state, county, school districts, and other government entities. Timely paid tax bills can be viewed on the Scott County Sheriff’s website. Delinquent tax certificates are transferred to the Scott County Clerk’s Office on or around April 15th for continued collection.

Delinquent Tax Timeline for Property Owners

  • April 15th – Delinquent taxes are transferred to the Scott County Clerk’s Office for collection
  • May – The Scott County Attorney mails out a Delinquent Tax Notice with options to enter into a payment agreement if eligible
    • A second notice will follow in June
      • For more information of payment agreements contact the Scott Co Attorney’s Office at 502-863-7870
  • June 30th – Deadline to enter into a payment agreement with the Scott County Attorney’s Office
  • July 1st – Advertising costs are applied to all remaining delinquent tax bills and are published in the local newspaper
  • August 21st – All payments must be received by 4:30pm in order to be excluded from the tax sale (see acceptable forms of payment below)
  • August 24th – Delinquent tax sale takes place at 8:30am

Accepted forms of payment

Acceptable forms of payment are cash, cashier’s check, money order and/or debit/credit cards. Please note that the use of a debit/credit card will incur a 2.75% fee charged by the vendor.
